The Role
It was a good experience and was actually the first job I've ever had. The placement allowed me to meet a lot of high up people through the networking events in London.
There was a huge resource shortage due to holidays and illness, but most of the time my colleagues would go out of their way to find me somehting to do.
My line manager was really great in providing guidance and support throughout my whole placement
Some days I had next to nothing to do and others I had lots, it just depended on how business the overall office was really.
I was asked to review and create summaries for the Customer Service Experience surveys for the whole Midlands East and South West region and for a bank which includes "putting customers first" in their mission statement, I would think I was given a lot of responsibility.
Developed my IT skills and gained loads of knowledge about banking, in particular Mid Markets, Corporate and Wholesale banking which I had been oblivious about before my placement.
The Company
Everyone was really friendly and as my placement was during the Olympics there was loads of Olympic themed fun including a sweepstake.
There could have been more organisation as to what I was to do, but generally I was given 4-5 projects to do throughout my placement by my line manager by the end of the first week.
The webinars organised centrally were quite good, especially the CV writing ad Interview skills one.
As a Lloyds Scholar I have to complete another placement next year and on the back of that, if all goes well, I could be referred to the graduate programme.
The Culture
I was based in Nottingham and there wasn't any other interns around the midlands area, most were based in London. But I wanted to stay at home, Derby, and was then able to spend loads of time with my family.
