The Role
Although not wholly relevant to my degree programme, i found the subject material i was working on interesting.
The members of the team i worked in accepted my knowledge base and gave me tasks that we're as relevant as possible to my degree. My views at team meetings were taken on board and would occasuionally lead to some further discussion.
I was having to take some resits, and the graduates and graduate management team offered me help and advice if i needed it. Generally the staff that were responsible were helpful and had a wealth of experience which I personally found beneficial to my personal development.
The workload was a bit hit and miss, there would be periods where i am very busy then periods when i'm not, for instance when i'm waiting on responses from people i am working with.
I was tasked with creating my own strategy document, which involved proposal presentations and peer reviews.
I developed skills in the area of team building and communication, however the knowledge base of my degree was not used to its full potential, i feel that i could have been given more relevant work which would build my understanding or i could share my knowledge of a subject.
The Company
Everyone in my office was friendly and approachable, the team i worked with were lively and had fantastic banter.
For me evrything was in place on my start date, however i didn't know if actually had the placement until 5 days before i was meant to start. I also understand tah other summer placements had trouble with getting the relevant security clearances, which some still do not have after 9 weeks.
The help that was given by the Early Careers and learnign development team was exemplary. i can't rate it high enough!! although i personally do not want to get involved with the graduate scheme in submarine solutions, im hope that these placements will give a stepping stonme into Military Air Solutoins as this is where my knowledge base lies.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
I have been asked if i am interested in joing the graduate scheme with Submarine solutions, however it is not where my interest and knowledge base are.
The Culture
I live in barrow so i can't complain, however compared to the Uni social scene it can be a bit quiet. As Summer Placements we organised plenty of nights out.
i lived at home for teh duration of the placement
Not as good as Uni, but still a few wild nights out
