The Role
The work was an excellent challenge without being overwhelmingly difficult and allowed development of both technical and practical skills.
They were very friendly and welcoming, helping out whenever required.
Plenty of help available and provided me with all the basics I needed to progress through the project.
There was always something to do, but required some time management to ensure enough time was allocated to each task.
I really felt that I was running the project, with a budget to adhere to, using my own designs, securing the materials and building the final product.
Learned many new skills and gained plenty of knowledge and insight into both the project topic and the role as an engineer. There were many transferable skills which can be used in other areas and the experience allows me to make an informed decision on my career aspirations.
The Company
Fairly relaxed atmosphere, with the occasional celebratory cake and tea breaks.
It was very well organised with a clear project plan set out from the very beginning.
A large part was to allow me to develop my own skills at my own pace and to test my ability to adapt, which I found far more beneficial than "holding my hand" to guide me through each and every step.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Very competitive salaries with bonuses and perks available. A very nice career progression for both the technical and management-minded individual.
The Culture
Plenty of graduates who are friendly and sociable.
The town has average prices, but there are good transport links to other towns and cities.
Mostly, just pubs in the direct vicinity, but trains run fairly late into the night.
Plenty of activities to get involved in with tennis court, gym, snooker table, etc.
