The Role
I enjoyed the placement and it gave me a good incite into the business world, as well as teaching me some valuable skills for later in my career.
As I was given tasks to help the team, not just set projects that would be of no use to the company. I felt a valued member of the team
Whenever I needed support or I was heading in the wrong direction my manager got me back on track and guided me through the work.
There were times when I had little work to do, this was because of the workload of my manager at the time, but I was not bored for considerable amounts of time.
I was given more responsibility than I had anticipated, which was good as it made me work harder. I was given tasks that would have had to be completed by another member of the team had I not done them.
My placement will not help me with my actual degree as such, but will help me in terms of handling work loads, having more business experience and confidence.
The Company
The office atmosphere was quite quiet, I got on with the staff I worked and enjoyed there company.
The first week of my placement wasnt too brilliantly organised, due to an IT fault, but from then onwards was well organised, as there was always a taskready for me once I had completed my work.
The company set me up on a training programme on the system to help with certain IT skills, such as Microsoft Excell.
Sports and Social Club
I believe that by completing this placement would have a positive effect should I choose to apply for the Graduate scheme.
The Culture
Apart from an odd email or lunch to catch up on how things were, I didnt interact with the other placement students. This was partly because the other placement students were based in different locations to me.
Sheffield has a good nightlife.
