The Role
The internship was a great experience and enjoyed it a lot as there were a variety of activities and great opportunity to find out more about others, the firm and the roles.
From the start my team were very welcoming and began to train me up and introduce me to day to day activities. They were easy to approach and always took the time to help me get upto speed when ever needed.
Even though my manager was very busy, he took the time to have weekly one to ones. He would also check up on how I was doing from time to time and ask. The buddy system was also great and most of my questions were easily answered by my buddy.
The work load was a lot, but it was due to the internship being of a shorter duration this year. However as it was enjoyable and interesting I would it was a good balance.
The first few days I was shadowing the work of other team mates, but I soon was able to show that I could undertake some small tasks. After the first two weeks my team was comfortable with the progress I had made and began to give me more challenging and longer tasks. I feel I was given the right amount of responsibility to show I was capable and to also get a feel for actual tasks.
I gained a lot of practicle skills and was a great eye opener to confirm this was the line of work I wanted to base my career around. It also strengthened my organisational and communication skills
The Company
It was a busy atmosphere, but everyone was approachable and supportive. We also found that it was very social and everyone got along well at busy times.
I found that the placement was very well organised. There were clear objectives set around our strengths and there were many opportunities and events to meet senior management and socialise with the other interns. There was a great balance and everything ran very smoothly.
We spent 3 days of training around soft skills and knowledge around basics of the investment bank and its product and services. We also had access to online study materials throughout. There was also guidence and basic tutorials within the team for the more specialised software and prcedures.

Was greatful to receive a graduate offer!
The Culture
There were many events that were set up by the firm for the interns to socialise. These were great opportunities and followed by other socials set by the interns themselves.
It was pricey.
There were many bars around the area to go to after work and good clubs with good transportation routes.
There were many schemes and activities set by the firm that colleagues already take part in. All interns were welcome to join.
