The Role
The placement was engaging and challenging, but overall I learnt a lot and valued from the experience.
Everyone helped me settle in from my first day, there was no person in the office that thought they were better than anyone else and I felt a valued part of team.
The people I was assigned, a buddy and a counselor, were very willing to answer any questions I had no matter what they were.
Because of the technical skill level required for some work I was unable to take part in everything, however there was never a day where I felt I was useless or couldn't help with something. The work given was explained in detail and as people trusted my work I became busier and busier.
Given real client work to take part in, helped do one project all the way through from start to finish which helped me feel responsible and sense of achievement.
The work and social life balance was improved. Also, the fact sometimes I had multiple deadlines for client work so I had to manage my time well and not get panicked about work load. This well help when I go in to my 3rd year with a big workload.
The Company
Everyone got on really well, was great to work in such a good team environment
The internship was really good. The way it was structured with an induction and people that were there to help us all the way through and possibility to get a graduate job at the end of it was great as well.
The managers and directors were more than happy to sit down and explain something to me and it felt that they really didn't mind I was there. They took the time to invest in what could be a future member of their team.
Company Parties/Events
Very high. If you do well and they like you - apparently there is more than likely a job for you providing there are the resources and the need for you.
The Culture
All my intern peers got on well and regularly met up to share our experiences.
Lived at home
Was really good, we went out for a few drinks and a bit of food. Very bustling and got involved in the work culture.
None that I got involved in. But there are clubs and networks that you can take part in
