The Role
It is always hard to blend in at first but I would say the process was quite smooth at ARM
Not always. The problem when not working with a very specific problem is that even you don't know exactly what you are supposed to do and hence time is wasted and sometimes my line manager was a little busy and so there were a few days when I didn't have much of a load.
I am quite happy that I was given enough autonomy to pursue the work my way which enabled me to proceed the way I wanted and hence the progress was pretty good.
I acquired some new skills in embedded systems but doubt that they will be useful for future.
The Company
The atmosphere at ARM is really great. It is pretty laid back and people come and go casually and come to office in casual clothes. This is really great for real work where you don't have to waste time thinking about what to wear and stuff everyday and focus on the real thing = WORK
The set up was great but my goal was not set up properly, but it is partially my fault.
I didn't receive any training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Given the working environment here, I would be more than happy to work here!
The Culture
We have a summer student social group which was VERY active during the first 4 weeks and now there is hardly any activity.
It was a bit costly, I had to pay rent 680/month
No nightlife unless you go to city center even then it wasn't great.
Besides the ARM cycle to London and Byte night, no not really.
