The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Fujitsu; I had a fulfilling role and met some great people. It was a very social placement both in terms of between fellow placement students and socialising and interacting with seniors as well as customers. In a short space of time I got to see a lot of the company which helped provide me with a well rounded view of the company as a whole and it allowed me to apply my skills to a number of varying situations.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues throughout the year. I often received praise and plaudits for the work I undertook and found in times of difficulty my colleagues were all more than willing to help. Everyone in my office was very approachable and willing to pass on their knowledge, a sign, I felt, that meant I was highly valued by both junior and senior colleagues.
I was provided with a vast amount of support and guidance during my tenure. Upon arriving I was instantly referred to courses that make my life easer by my manager. This continued throughout the year and as I became more advanced in my ability so did the courses. As well as this day to day guidance was provided by my colleagues, who would often steer me in the right direction should I be venturing off track. All placement students were provided with a graduate mentor who provided vital information on the graduate scheme as well as allowing us to gain experience of other accounts through shadowing.
Inevitably the workload at the start was not particularly big as it took some time to settle, learn the processes and get to know my colleagues. However, it soon picked up and I found myself reasonably busy after a short period of time. As with any job, at points I found I had a little too much on my plate, however, colleagues were more than willing to share the workload and thus enable me to hit deadlines.
I was given a great amount of responsibility in my job. I was trusted to run a number of projects, freely interact with the customer and deliver customer demonstrations on a regular basis. As I further settled into the company I was given tasks that carried increasingly more responsibility.
Such skills as organisation, presentation skills, communication and team work all developed considerably during my placement year. All of these skills will aid me in my final year of university and in the future in general as communication, organisation and teamwork are vital in all walks of life. As well as this my course entails a few presentations so fine tuning this skill should stand me in good stead. I also completed a number of Microsoft Office courses during my tenure, being familiar with applications such as Excel, Word, Access and so on will assist me in my studies and beyond as these are the most commonly used applications both at University and in all types of businesses.
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere with people always willing to help and there was also always tome for a laugh when appropriate. That said, there was also a serious professional edge to the environment which was vital for the completion of work.
A very well organised programme in which I got to see a lot of the company in short space of time. I know there was some differences in other interns experiences but within my account I felt it was very well organised year that allowed me to experience varying situations rather than just completing one task on a day to day basis. The talent team also did a very good job organising the placement student CSR scheme which we all agreed was good fun.
The company has a number of internal Microsoft Office course as well as other useful workshops. I attended many of these and found them very useful. There was some other courses I would've liked to have attended but as I was only there for a ear I wasn't eligible.

Working from home
Fujitsu offer placement student positions on the grad scheme based on their performance throughout the year. Should you perform well its likely you'll get an offer and I have currently just received that offer. I'm very pleased with the offer as Fujitsu's grad scheme is one of the best around.
The Culture
I was based in the Bracknell office, where the majority of the placement students were based and it was a great social scene. We had a football team set up between us and as most lived in Reading we often went on nights out to celebrate our wins/drown our sorrows.
Reading has a fairly big Uni so student nights/prices galore! I'd definitely advise living in Reading rather than Bracknell; there isn't an awful lot there and it only adds another 10mins to the journey.
As mentioned earlier, student nights galore in Reading; Thursday night being particularly lively.
Plenty of local sports teams anything else that takes your fancy.
