The Role
The internship at the Investment Bank was challenging but thoroughly enjoyable. The scheme was very well organised including social events to meet your fellow interns.
My team members were very accommodating and made it incredibly easy to incorporate into the team.
My line manager made every effort to assist me when I had issues. He was happy to give me a task and let me get on with solving it, offering advice only when I asked for it.
The balance was great. I never felt overworked and was never bored, there was always a challenge to solve.
Due to the nature of the internship and the fact that it was cut short due to the Olympics (6 weeks rather than the normal 10), there wasn't much scope for responsibility. There was a lot to learn before it would be appropriate to begin work on company projects.
The skills I gained during the internship have proven invaluable since leaving, and it's only been 7 weeks! I also know they'll be very useful for my final year of university.
The Company
There was a really positive atmosphere within the office between all of my colleagues.
The organisation was superb. Throughout the entire process I was well informed of what was coming up and the HR team were great at responding to queries.
The bank laid on a training weekend prior to the internship to aid us with learning about the industry. The content was great and helped with the rest of the internship a lot. We also had a few technology presentations during the internship to learn about different technologies used throughout the company.

I've been offered a graduate placement with the company, pending final classification of my degree.
The Culture
There were regular social meetings between fellow interns and several organised networking events before and during the internship.
Being London the cost of living and socialising is quite a lot, however this was expected before I began the internship.
London has an incredible nightlife!
The company organised several volunteering and other external events to aid the community. They were great fun and another chance to socialise with fellow interns.
