    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Pretty fuffiling, with lots of interesting projects and people around. Occasionally boring however that is to be expected.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team accepted me happily, even in my short placement

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Line Manager was very supportive but still let me have my independence of work

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy always, but never feeling stressed for very tight deadlines

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Doing minor development but for my own project/library: A good compromise.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not completely fresh skills but were really good for honing programming skills.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Donuts, scooters, fun. Quite often the office stopped for a chat about something random.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Arrived in the middle of a big event so it was fairly hectic: however after a while I was set up and ready to go and something to do!

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • No real training however my colleges were really helpful in teaching me.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Healthcare from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Certainly a possibility, I get the feeling more placements wouldn't be too good to get.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A couple of events/meetups out of office hours.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was living at home, so living was largely free. The area is fairly expensive generally but alcohol can be cheap.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Cambridge is largely devoid of really top class clubs, good selection of pubs around town, however.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As I live in the area, that issue wasnt one I had much problem with. ARM offer plenty of after work events/clubs and Cambridge has several activities that one could involve ones self in.

    3/5
