The Role
BP offers a very good internship. The staff are kind and work is of professional standards. The internship is not photocopying or full time office work. There are interaction with vendors and other people from BP of different disciplines.
One of the best elements of working for BP is that everybody is kind. Especially the team, I felt very relaxed when working with them.
Despite having a packed timetable, my supervisor would always spend time with me. Sometimes he is busy but he would organise a meeting in his calender on the next day if not the same day.
There is always work to do. But it can get to a time when you are waiting for other people to meet/respond to you. During this time you can not progress on your work, but there are many other things to do, such as using BP learning or central projects (tasks given by HR like intern newsletter).
Despite being new in the organisation, the team trusts you to do business on BP behalf, and you are definitely given plenty opportunities.
Luckily for me my intern program sat nicely with my degree, all was relevant. Many people are not as lucky to get this, but you will still learn many soft skill and will help in the career.
The Company
One thing I must say is that the staff are really nice. Although most of the time they are really busy, when they do stop by for a chat it is good banter.
All the staff perks are organised within the fist few days (perks like laptop, staff card - with free daily quota). There was a nice induction session on day 1 and through the placement there is objectives, mid term appraisals and a final appraisal. What you would expect from a professional internship!
There is only a e-learning facility and not much else. This is because of two reasons: 1) The job we are doing does not require much training, ok there is a bit of technical detail, but it takes a day or two from a colleague to explain how to do the job. 2) People who go offshore get plenty of training, since it can be a dangerous environment. I have not myself been offshore, but some of the other interns have.
Flexi Time

Company Parties/Events
They are currently changing the recruitment process, interns now do a final presentation on what they have done and in consideration with appraisals by line managers that happen during the internship, they decide whether or not you are hired or not.
The Culture
Interns at Aberdeen were very close together, especially because most of us lived in the same student accommodation.
One thing about Aberdeen is great at is the nights out. There are plenty of places to go and is fairly cheap. Although the downside is accommodation can get expensive, but with what you get paid during the internship helps balance it out
As I said above, Aberdeen is really a great place to go
Yes such as gym and football but its up to you to get involved.
