The Role
I really enjoyed my time at Grant Thornton, I felt like I got a great insight into what working for the company is like
Everyone I worked with was incredibly welcoming and helpful, I was really accepted as part of the team.
I worked with a number of different people and all of them gave great guidance on what I was expected to do. Whenever I was stuck they were more than happy to help.
I always felt like I had work to do and was kept busy, but did not have too much which meant I didn't feel under pressure.
I was given the opportunity to take control over a small job which was great, I had a designated colleague to ask any questions I had and help me where necessary, but was able to carry out most of the work for the job myself.
The skills I have gained will give me more confidence when starting work as I have a much better understanding of the work I will be doing.
The Company
While I wasn't in the office the whole time, when I was there I felt like there was a welcoming friendly atmosphere.
When I arrived a schedule for me had already been completed. I was put onto a couple of jobs, and when in the office there was always a task for me to do.
All of the interns were able to visit Grant Thornton's training centre for 2 days to learn presentation skills to help us succeed at our final assessment.
Company Parties/Events
I was delighted to be offered a graduate position with the company and I am looking forward to working for them.
The Culture
I got to know the other interns in my office well and got along with them great. We also had an evening out with some of the colleagues in our office.
Cost of living and socialising is reasonable.
There aren't a huge number of clubs around but there is definitely opportunity for a great night out.
There was a summer party that all the interns were invited too which was a great opportunity to spend time with colleagues outside a work setting.
