The Role
Standard 9-5, mostly good fun.
Team was very friendly and welcoming, and we had a great balance of joking around and work.
Supervisors were great, helped set everything up quickly and were always on hand for help. In addition, there were weekly catchups to check progress.
Work wasn't too challenging, but given it was only 8 weeks seemed about right.
A lot of emphasis on self-motivation and self-initiative.
Quickly developed several time and project management skills, as well as the 'soft skills' required for an industry environment.
The Company
Worked next to the team who were pretty cool.
Some delays and misunderstandings, organisation definitely could have been better.
National Grid loves its Power Academy students! Prepare to be spoiled.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Why not?
The Culture
Yep, lots of events, parties and trips to places like Warwick Castle. Self organised though.
Find a decent house early, and it's pretty cheap.
Leamington Spa is actually an awesome student town.
For me it was just gym, but there were lots of clubs to get involved in.
