    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement exceeded all expectations that I had before starting as I was given a lot of responsibility and was a valued team member, not just a placement student!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team really helped me to settle into my job role. I was given a lot of support from my line managers and they always had patience with me when I was learning something new. I really got along well with my team members and there have been lots of memorable moments!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was lots to learn when I started and I was given a lot of support from my line managers and the team. There is a wealth of resources at Renault if you need support (For example, extending knowledge in excel) and the company invests a lot of time in training placement students.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The role has a lot of responsibility and I was kept busy managing suppliers on a daily basis. There are a lot of other responsibilities and depending on how you progress you are given more as the year goes on.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Lots! Far more than I expected before I started and I really got to grips with managing suppliers during the year. More responsibility is given throughout the year if you progress well.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills that I have developed whilst at Renault will assist me throughout my studies and into my career. The company really does invest in you to develop your skills and knowledge. I attended many courses and had 1 on 1 sessions which were really useful for the placement year and for my future career.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The people at Renault are great! There are lots of placement students and the company takes on a few graduates each year so there were also lots of colleagues of a similar age to me. Nissan is also in the building next to Renault so there are even more students there..

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything went to plan so that's the reason I've given this a ten!

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned in the comments above, the company really invests in placement students and I have learnt many new skills that I will take with me into my career!

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • At the end of the placement an exit interview is carried out with the HR department to discuss your future plans. This allows you to enquire about the Graduate Scheme and ask any questions you have about a career at Renault.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • This definitely depends on the type of students that are employed during your year. There was a really good social life with other students at Renault during my year.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly expensive - Unless you rent a room in a house (www.spareroom.co.uk) then you'll pay quite a lot. If you have a car then consider areas outside of the M25 which may be cheaper. Bear this in mind if you're looking to share with other students.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • If you're willing to travel a few miles then you'll find somewhere good to go out!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A good Sports and Social society at Renault which organise events throughout the year (Drinks, Go Karting etc).

    4/5
