The Role
I was instantly made to feel very welcome by my colleagues and as a result I have some great friends to take away from my 10 weeks with the company.
I had weekly meetings with my manager and also an associate who I worked with closely. They were supportive and gave me all the guidance I needed to ensure I was successful during my placement.
I found myself very busy learning all the background knowledge in my first 3 weeks and after the half way point with the project I had been assigned. There will always be moments when you are scratching your head, especially with the projects that you can be set but once youve gained good knowledge you will find yourself very busy.
This seemed to be dependent on the team you were assigned to. It's very hard for teams with complex operations to give you much responsibility.
My 10 weeks with J. P. Morgan have taught me invaluable skills that I will use to my advantage for my degree and beyond.
The Company
Everyone is obviously very professional, but they managed to strike the perfect balance between having a good time and getting down to business. I found myself fortunate enough to be part of a team with a great sense of humour who I enjoyed spending my time with.
I was very impressed with the organisation of the placement. From start to finish there was good communication between your colleagues and with Graduate Recruitment who provided weekly intern updates and were the driving force behind all the events set up during my time with the company.
J.P.Morgan invested a lot of their time into ensuring I made the most out of my time with the company. You have to bear in mind that the your team have to provide a serious amount of time to do something that probably isn't in their job description and I was staggered to see how involved they wanted to be in the process.

Working from home
The company made it clear that they want to recruit as many interns as they possibly could. At the end of the day, the less they are able to recruit from their interns, they harder they have to work to get other students the year after.
The Culture
I met some great people who I shall definitely be keeping in touch with. Meet as many people as you can because not only does it give you a great networking group of people who are in the same position as you, it also gives you scope to meet other managers and directors working for the firm.
Socialising in London does come at a cost! I was lucky enough to live from home however, but the train fares were a real eye opener.
London provides a massive variety of things to do. If you find it average then you havent looked hard enough!
There was an intramural football league set up by some of the interns and a vast array of events set up by Graduate Recruitment.
