The Role
It was a generally great place to work with a great working environment and enjoyable work.
There was a general friendly environment in the office
This was my second time working with Metaswitch, and this time, I was given a little less guidance - although this helped with my independent development.
There was always something to be doing: I was given a large task for my placement, with the knowledge that whilst at a minimum, it had to work and fulfil basic functions, there was alway room for development - so I would never run out of stuff to do.
My manager took a bit of a back seat, leaving me to decide how my project would look and work.
The company did not require any experience at all, and in the course of my internship, I have become proficient in Java, Javascript, HTML, Freemarker, JQuery and CSS - and been paid to learn them!
The Company
It was generally a comfortable place to work.
I was kept very well informed throughout the application process and throughout the internship.
There were no formal training days or events, however I was given a lot of support by my mentor in learning to program.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
A successful internship allows you to get past the first half of the interview progress automatically.
The Culture
I did not stay in a company house, and therefore missed out on a lot of the social scene, however there was still a lot going on.
I lived at home!
I lived at home!
There were numerous activities going on in lunchtime, including sports and board games.
