The Role
Work undertaken was interesting, though perhaps a little too full on at times. Activities were interactive and participation was enjoyable.
During assessments (group in particular) the competitive spirit was evident, though in the other tasks and social events the people were friendly and easy to interact with. Three days , though, is not long enough to feel "valued" in my opinion.
"Nothing" and "Fantastic" I feel are inappropriate scales, as the main bulk of the Academy is focussed on independent work. We were given guidelines on what our project should include, and a supervisor to answer questions about what PwC do. We weren't however given much support or guidance, though that was intended.
Never bored, ever. The Academy was meant to be full on, testing your ability to remain focussed. so for them, a perfect balance, but for you... there's no denying it was a lot of work.
Your main responsibility is to represent yourself accurately in both assessments and activities. We weren't working on real cases, though.
Core competencies of PwC are useful in all lines of business, in almost all businesses. So, yes, they were useful. 3 days, though, was not enough time to be properly trained or developed - more of a taster if you like.
The Company
Good atmosphere, in a hotel environment which was less intimidating.
Very well set up and run by the firm - activities stimulating and challenging. Any glitches were down to the hotel.
Only three days, not enough time to really answer.
I passed through the academy (which in itself is very competitive) to the next stage and am awaiting an email either confirming or rejecting an interview for a guaranteed internship in my chosen dept.
The Culture
socialising very easy - events put on for us each night.
All covered by the firm.
Drinks in the bar with fellow candidates (and sometimes partners) though not "nightlife" as such.
Only three days, couldn't say.
