    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Work undertaken was interesting, though perhaps a little too full on at times. Activities were interactive and participation was enjoyable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • During assessments (group in particular) the competitive spirit was evident, though in the other tasks and social events the people were friendly and easy to interact with. Three days , though, is not long enough to feel "valued" in my opinion.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • "Nothing" and "Fantastic" I feel are inappropriate scales, as the main bulk of the Academy is focussed on independent work. We were given guidelines on what our project should include, and a supervisor to answer questions about what PwC do. We weren't however given much support or guidance, though that was intended.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Never bored, ever. The Academy was meant to be full on, testing your ability to remain focussed. so for them, a perfect balance, but for you... there's no denying it was a lot of work.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Your main responsibility is to represent yourself accurately in both assessments and activities. We weren't working on real cases, though.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Core competencies of PwC are useful in all lines of business, in almost all businesses. So, yes, they were useful. 3 days, though, was not enough time to be properly trained or developed - more of a taster if you like.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Good atmosphere, in a hotel environment which was less intimidating.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well set up and run by the firm - activities stimulating and challenging. Any glitches were down to the hotel.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Only three days, not enough time to really answer.

    1/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I passed through the academy (which in itself is very competitive) to the next stage and am awaiting an email either confirming or rejecting an interview for a guaranteed internship in my chosen dept.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • socialising very easy - events put on for us each night.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • All covered by the firm.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Drinks in the bar with fellow candidates (and sometimes partners) though not "nightlife" as such.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Only three days, couldn't say.

    3/5
