The Role
Every colleague was very helpful and always willing to teach the interns something about the firm. Everyone was treated equally and as just a big as part of the team as anyone else.
My manager guided and supported me throughout the internship and gave me very useful feedback to help me improve and grow personally and professionally.
I was given a couple of projects to work on which kept me busy throughout the internship period, allowing me to gain in-depth experience in my chosen role as well as about the bank in general.
I was given a lot of responsibilities around my projects and given the freedom to carry out my these projects with support whenever I needed it.
I gained invaluable skills during this internship. They span from organisational skills, time management skills and improving on my commercial acumen, to teamwork and beginning-to-end management of projects from which the reward of starting and completing a project was the satisfaction gained from doing a great job.
The Company
I was in a business line where everyone was very friendly and worked hard but also felt free to have a laugh with colleagues. It made the work a whole lot funner.
The internship program was run by HR and was very well organized from the very beginning to end with just enough information to keep us informed on the daily events and what was needed of us. A number of interesting networking events were set up for us as well as educational events to help us learn more about the bank and meet new people.
We had an initial induction when we began the internship where we learnt about the different business lines in the bank and were given a few ''work tips''. We also had a presentation skills session and interns in different roles were assigned the relevant online training modules to assist them to learn how their products/roles work. Managers, mentors and colleagues always helped learn new things along the way and weekly meetings with my manager and mentor really helped me evaluate how I felt working in such a role in the Bank and evaluate and improve upon my strengths and weaknesses.

Working from home
From my experience at the firm, I would definitely recommend considering a position with the bank. It is a great place to work in taking into account different aspects e.g. the actual work, training, activities outside of work, pay, benefits, and most of all, the CULTURE.
The Culture
All the interns were very willing to work and learn amongst and from each other and kept in touch/networked through events and internal messenger.
The cost of living and socialising in London is quite high, especially if you live in near the central business district, which is more high-end.
Central London has many places to visit at night. There were multiple bars not far from work where interns and colleagues went to socialize and have a laugh after a hard days work.
Apart from the intern events organised for the summer interns, there are many different societies and clubs that the bank has set up which employees are encouraged to join e.g sport, gay/lesbian club, which promotes equality as well as allows you to enjoy time after work with colleagues and new friends from other firms.
