The Role
The internship programme was designed so as to give interns a brilliant balance of responsibility, subject matter knowledge, training, networking and chances to hear very senior speakers.
My team trusted me with a lot of responsibility and gave me constant progress updates.
I was given support by my direct superiors within my team on a regular basis, with formal 1-2-1 sessions every week and informal contact always. I also was given a mentor in another, unrelated team who was another point of contact, as well as a 'buddy' - a new joiner to the company.
Some days very busy, some days not so much - I felt overall there was a very good balance. Working within a project management team meant everyday was different.
I was given enough responsibility to push myself and then some. I was also given opportunities to comment on whether I could deal with more or if I felt under too much pressure.
Whilst the skills might not immediately contribute to the completion of my degree they will certainly help me next year when I start as a graduate.
The Company
Great atmosphere, but was certainly aware it was a place of work.
Some slight hiccups but overall the programme was extremely well designed.
We had events to network with and question senior speakers as well as access to an online training portal.
