The Role
Very interesting but challenging work. Was relevant to degree.
Was able to contribute to team and colleagues. In some areas, was able to improve other team members skill sets.
Had regular personal development reviews, and the recruitment team were very helpful with future aspirations.
Most days had solid work from 8 to 4, occasional slow moments.
Not much responsibility in terms of leading teams or projects, but work involved was critical for business development.
All work was relevant to current degree, but some topic areas learnt at university did not feature at work.
The Company
Team were open and talkative with some office events, such as raffles.
Placement was very well organised with inductions and objectives set out from out right.
It was possible to attend training sessions and development programs, but not entirely realistic for short duration of placement.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Above 25 days holiday
Easy to go from a intern placement to a graduate scheme and then onto a permanent roll.
The Culture
Interns and graduates know each other, get on well, and are common place in the office.
Derby is relatively cheap to live in, both in terms of living and socialising.
Personally did not delve to much into night life.
Rolls-Royce provide some external activities and clubs, and it is always possible to look for activities in the local area.
