The Role
Being a car enthusiast, I have enjoyed working for a company that sells products that I am a fan of. I worked with some fantastic people and the work was challenging and engaging.
I have made some excellent friends during my placement and shall definately keep in touch with them long after I leave!
My manager continually provided me with feedback so that I could develop myself. He was also very easy to approach and was always happy to help me should if I ever needed it.
The work did have an irregular flow, where it would be too busy on some days and then very quiet on others. However, my colleagues were easy to work with, happy to help and also happy to give me work to smooth the work flow out.
The role did give me a lot of responsibility. For example, I produced reports which went to some company directors, and even, overseas to Germany. Mistakes that I made had a real consequence to prove that the role did carry a lot of responsibility.
I received some excellent training such as Presentation Skills, which will always be useful. I also used software such as Excel and SQL which are programmes used in most companies and will always be a useful skill-set to have. Furthermore, I developed my team-working and communication skills which will always be essential.
The Company
The office has a nice atmosphere, being open plan and brightly decorated. People were always up for a good laugh and there was always fun banter going on. Overall, a very nice place to work!
The placement was set up very well, where the recruitment process was well organised and the familiarisation event was a nice touch to get to know everyone. The placement itself was well structured so that it went from easy to difficult.
There were many training and development opportunities available and the courses were very helpful.

The Culture
Placement students had an opportunity to meet before the placement started and organise housing etc. However, there could more events after.
Milton Keynes is a reasonable city. Eating and renting are as expected with nothing being over cheap or over expensive. There is a nice shopping centre and some outdoor pursuits places as well.
Nightlife is ok considering that it isn't a university city. Compared to other cities like Birmingham or Liverpool however, it is below par.
There were not many opportunities in my department, however many of the other students spoke about after-work football or cinema sessions.
