The Role
I enjoyed my internship a lot and it definitively helped me to better understand the potential careers available to em after I graduate and get a better understanding of which would be most beneficial to me both in the short term and long term.
Throughout my internship I received some very positive feedback from my colleagues which definitely made me feel appreciated and part of the team.
I was regularly advised about what I need to do/improve and how best to do this.
My scheduled varied on a daily basis, sometimes really quiet especially during the Christmas period but busy at other times. Whenever it was quiet there was always something constructive which I could do.
Being given the same responsibilities and tasks as the permanent members of staff I was able to get a better under of what to expect after I graduate.
Although my placement was completely different from my degree it rekindled my interest in IT and help better prepare me for jobs after I graduate. I now have a better Idea of what job I want to do after I graduate.Certain aspects of my internship are also being incorporated in my final year modules which has helped me a lot.
The Company
Although It was a professional environment everyone was quite relaxed and I found it very easy to get along with the other members of staff regardless of the position within the organization.
Due to the nature of my post(Desktop Technician) there was no formal structure to my internship. My post was ever changing depending on the available tasks.
I was constantly provide with opportunities to learn new things and provided with all the necessary help when needed.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare from home
I personally feel as though I did an excellent job working for AXA and I would like to think that should a suitable position become available in the future I might be considered for it,.
The Culture
Being within such a large organization I got the chance to socialize with other interns and members of staff in different departments.
I was leaving at home but as it is in London the cost of socializing is quite high but as long as you can manage your money it should be fine.
There are a lot of bars/restaurants around AXA and if none of these are to your taste then you can easily hop onto the train to other destinations.
There were opportunities such as the Christmas party which allowed everyone to socialize outside of work.
