The Role
Although I found the hours very long, the work was extremely interesting and I felt my knowledge of the financial markets increased significantly and only furthered my desire to work in finance.
Everyone, even very senior people, was extremely welcoming and willing to give time and advice whenever I needed it.
Throughout my internship I felt there were many people I could turn to, and everyone was happy to help whenever I needed it.
We did have a lot of work and it sometimes got quite stressful, but I enjoyed that our projects were actually used by the company and people valued our opinions.
We produced projects that were to be produced and passed throughout IA's within the organization. I was also sent to external meetings by myself and as such was representing the company.
Over the 10 weeks I learnt a vast amount. Not only about the financial world but also in areas such as my written skills and presentation styles. My networking and social skills were also fine tuned and I feel these are lessons that will help me throughout my future career.
The Company
Although it was quite serious, the atmosphere was always friendly.
The internship was very well organised. We were constantly kept busy and had regular meetings, lessons and visits organised for us.
We had various training programmes all I feel were very beneficial.
Company Parties/Events
The prospects within the whole industry are tough at the moment, and as such prospects are tight at Morgan Stanley.
The Culture
Everyone was really friendly and got on really well. We all made effort to see each other outside of work and I feel I have made some genuine friends.
Central London is extremely expensive
Couldnt ask for better. Apart from the expense London is amazing.
My hours being so long restricted this slightly, but at weekends etc there were opportunities.
