The Role
Morgan Stanley surpassed my expectations: people were much nices than I ever imagined they could be, my day to day tasks were intellectually stimulating and the hours were not as bad as some of my friends have made them sound.
My work was appreciated, everyone always thanked me for my support, treated my mistakes with endless patience and was always willing to spend time with me to teach me new skills.
My VP helped me send my investor update the first time (there was no one else around to do it). The analyst on my team gladly offered her time to help me with my individual projects. It was an amazingly friendly working atmosphere.
There were days I was quite bored and there were days where I had to quickly eat lunch and dinner at my desk - however, I found that this is just a normal thing about being an analyst. I have to say though that my team seemed much better at managing their time and working on projects weeks before they were due than other ones at my team.
I was given more responsibility that I felt comfortable with at first - from day one I had to update investors. I was asked to write an Executive Summary for a live transaction. I created a part of a valuation model for a live transaction.
This internship makes my program seem to be a big joke - things are done much differently in real life than in school. The biggest challenge is learning how to well use the resources to which this firm has access.
The Company
Good laugh breaks every now and again. Lunches and dinners together with people in my team and other interns.
Wonderful training program.
I was impressed they were willing to spend so much time training me!
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
I HOPE I get a job with them - they will let us know soon.
The Culture
We actually went out sometimes and we definitely made a solid effort to eat together as often as possible.
Not bad at all. Much better than working in the City.
Great bars and restaurants in Canary Wharf.
Many charity events that we could participate in.
