The Role
Very welcoming trading floor and flat structure made the internship a real learning experience.
Most of the tasks I was given, once accomplished, turned useful to my team.
People on the trading floor are busy, but coming across with good questions and answers at the right time may make them more supportive.
It is all up to you. If you are looking for more work you will never get bored and people will appreciate the effort
Bearing in mind that interns are not FSA approved responsibility is not high.
With the valuable feedbacks received I was able to improve both my technical (e.g. programming) and personal skills.
The Company
Brilliant colleagues made every working day incredible. It's important to know and socialize with more senior colleagues to make the experience even more enriching.
Because of the Olympics the internship lenght was shortened but all the social activities were carried out as normally. I liked the idea of distributing a summer internship guide containing advices for the job experience and a picture of each summer intern.
The training for summer interns is very basic, but all colleagues are more than willing to spend some of their time teaching you something. Be proactive and ask questions!

The Culture
People organised they're own social events such as a weekly clubbing night and the company also organised a mid term social which was amazing! lots of team building activities, food and drink! There was also an end of internship party at a club in central London.
Overall it's Canary Wharf
During the week nothing crazy goes on. On Friday afternoon Canary Wharf is very nice with all pubs full of bankers. On Saturday and Sunday is desert.
There was a volunteering afternoon where you could either garden or make toys this was great for networking with other interns and giving back to the community. Other opportunities were available but it was hard to get involved given the short time spent in London (6 weeks)
