The Role
Unfortunately whilst on placement I do not feel that I was timulated enough, I do not feel I was stretched and therefore sometimes became bored.
Whilst on placement I felt incredibly valued by my colleagues, particularly those within my department. I felt that I received a lot of guidance and support from those within HR.
I feel that whilst on my placement I was given a high level of guidance, I attended weekly progress meetings with management which were highly useful in keeping my progress on track and monitored.
Whilst on placement although there were busy times, most of the time I do not feel that I was busy due to the fact that I was never given a full project to do, instead I had to carry out only parts of a project. I would have gained more from the excperience if I had been given more responsibility within my role.
Although I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility whilst on placement, I do feel that if I had been given more I would possibly have learnt more and gained more from my placement.
I feel the main way that my placement has helped me is in improving my experience, this will help greatly post graduation when looking for a job. Additionally the skills and knowledge gained will help me a lot when writing my dissertation, I will be able to write a much mroe relevant dissertation thanks to my placement.
The Company
The office in which I worked varied in atmosphere, there were times when I was bored however I did enjoy some of my time in the office. I particularly liked the social side of the office, everybody was encouraged to get together now and again, this encouraged and improved office moral.
Overall my placement was very well organised, everyhting ran smotthly both for my placement and other placement students within the same company. I felt well guided throughout, mainly due to the schedule of training that I stuck to.
Cummins invested in my personal training and development to the best of their ability, I was very impressed with their commitment to my development.

The Culture
Whilst on placement we were actively encouraged by the company to socialise, this helped in encouraging team work.
As my placement was nearby to my previous residence living was not to much of an issue, however, I had to drive a round trip of 50 miles a day, this obviously had a finacial impact on me. Socialising was relatively cheap due to the student community within the area.
As I have lived in Northampton for nearly my whole life I would not particularly rate the night life, however, whilst on placement I met the most beautiful girl in the world who is now my fiance so I would most definitely recommend Northampton's night life.
Yes, there wss a community action group within the company, additionally there was a sports and social club
