The Role
I would go back in a heartbeat!
There was a strong team spirit at Eli Lilly which you become a large part of over the year.
There is plentiful support. Everyone is very approachable and willing to help.
It takes a while to get going due to all the training but once that is out the way days become very busy especially towards the end of the year.
I am surprised by how early on I was given important responsibilities. Not only did I have key roles in the team I was working in but I was in charge of my individual experiments too.
Hugely! Not only have my practical lab skills been developed but my personal skills such as communication and teamwork have been greatly improved which has prepared me well for final as well as future employment.
The Company
Everyone got on very well which made working together an enjoyable experience.
It took a while to get started but once I knew what I was doing things went very smoothly. One regret is that I didn't push to be trained up as quickly as I possibly could due to my shy characteristics.
I recieved a lot of training in order to complete the work. In addition to this optional IT courses etc were also offered to the whole workplace. The company was more then happy for me to complete these additional courses.

I would love to go back to Eli Lilly in the future but it seems there is a lot of work to be done before that is a possibility. The majority of people there are post-docs and so I would need a PhD if I was to return.
The Culture
There were quite a few students who all lived together and went out regularly. Staff also go on social events in which students integrate well into the group.
The workplace was based near Ascot, just a short journey away from London. This made the price of living and socialising reasonably expensive. Especially for a northern girl!
There are a few bars and clubs, we went out mainly in Windsor. If only the trains to London ran later then it would be a much better nightlife.
There is a social club which holds different sporting events and other clubs on evenings.
