The Role
Loved my placement - was a challenge to begin, learning what I was going to be doing and how the company worked with but soon got into the flow of things and really enjoyed it.
A lot of the colleagues in my department were on individual projects but everyone around me made me feel welcome. The colleagues who I was directly working with made me feel like hope and were open to help me at anytime.
I had at least 1 meeting with my manger a week to overview where I was at with my projects - and even when my manger was away on holiday, another supervisor would make sure I was ok. Outside these formal meetings I was able to go up and ask questions when ever he was free - there didn't need to be a pre-arranged meeting organised.
My projects that I was working on - I was the only one who was, so I made the pace that I wanted to work at. I always had plenty of work to do and if I got bored I just picked up my own working pase.
I was given lots of responsibility - as much as any other employee at my level. There was no difference that I was a placement student.
The skills I have learnt can only benefit me in my future career. I saw how my degree is put to use in the working world and I learnt some key and essential business techniques on how a company would work - which will be transferable to many companies.
The Company
Working atmosphere - friendly and chatty at time but also quiet when people were working.
The placement was well organised. We were carefully placed in our departments and were kept updated via emails but after our first introduction week we were left to work and learn.
There was many training programs I could of gone on and the length of my placement limited this a bit. There was a learning scheme in the company that allowed you to do any form of learning (flying plances, land rover experience, welding) and the company would contribute some of the cost/pay for it. This which I took full advantage of and did the land rover experience.

Very appealing. I am on a sponsership scheme so I will work for them all through my degree and go on to the graduate scheme once I graduate.
The Culture
Great! I live with alot of the other placement students and had the best summer!
Standard price for any city - not too expensive but not super cheap.
I lived in Coventry - which didn't have the great Nightlife but a few towns close by were good and we ventured out to Birmingham a few weekends. Some great pubs close to my flat which provided some week-night entertainment.
Loads of things. We had all evening and all weekends to do what we wanted and living in the centre of a city there was cinema, pubs, ice-skating all within a short walk!
