The Role
I really enjoyed working for Renault UK. The office environment is quickly adaptable and I felt I was given a lot of responsibility helping me to develop transferable skills in depth.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, they were all very friendly and easy to talk to and I never felt like I couldn't speak to any of them when I had a problem or found something hard to understand. Colleagues outside my department were just as friendly and assisted whenever I needed any help from them.
I had two managers, both who were very patient at the beginning when I was learning and both who gave me more responsibility when I was able to participate in projects and knew more about the role and department.
Although some months were busier than others, I found that during August (not very busy) I was preparing for September and October work therefore it was the perfect balance.
After about 6 months in the role, I was given a lot more responsibility which involved a lot of organisation, prioritisation and time management therefore I was challenged. After this project, I was then given even more responsibility when one of my managers went on holiday therefore I feel like I achieved a lot during my placement.
The skills I developed during my time at Renault will be extremely important in my last year of University and beyond as I am planning to return to the same sort of job role as a graduate therefore I will improve on the skills I've already developed.
The Company
The office atmosphere was friendly and talkative but still quite quiet. As my department was small and some colleagues were part time, it was relatively quiet 100% of the time where I sat, however around the other floors it was more lively.
The organisation of my work placement was set up well, the only part I would change is the communication to all placement students once the roles have been filled. I didn't get to speak to any other students before I arrived at Renault, even though one of them was from the same university as me. This was due to Renault not providing other students' contact details. As I was able to change this for the placement students who have just started, I made a facebook group and invited all those with an offer of a placement with Renault so they could sort out their living arrangements. This is useful especially for the French students.
I went on a two-day Miscrosoft Access training course which helped with my role in the department but also will be useful in the future for databases and reporting.

Company Parties/Events
There is a Graduate Development Programme however I won't be applying for it as the job I'm looking for is a little more specific than the variety the programme offers.
The Culture
Yes, every weekend we would go to house parties in London or go out in London
Expensive. Rickmansworth and surrounding areas is not cheap to live in however, living in Harrow and getting the train everyday is a lot cheaper.
None, although students tend to live in London and commute out to Rickmansworth everyday therefore during the weekends, London nightlife suffices.
There were some sporting activities during the week however I didn't attend due to my 1 hour 45 commute to and from work daily.
