The Role
Deffinatly glad I spent my year at Lubrizol, met some great people and learnt a lot.
Gratitude was shown and hard work was recognised throughout the year.
Very close guideance and support from within the office.
Certainly a mix, but never short of work!
Significantly more responsibility than most of my peers
All the soft skills and knowledge gained throughout the year helped me to achieve a higher classification of degree after returning to university.
The Company
Pressure can be felt from time to time but the other engineers were good to work with. Certainly fun at times!
No clearly defined structure of work for the year but incorporation into the business was excellent.
Gained a number of technical and site safety skills from in house. No external training was provided however.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I would certainly consider a future role within the organisation.
The Culture
There were 17 placement students in my year, almost all of whom became friends and regularly went out for drinks and socialised!
Derby prices are very reasonable.
The city isn't a massive one, but is underrated by many. With a good group of mates a very good night can be had. Closer to site is very rural, so its worth living in Derby, or close by.
There is a very good sports and social club who run activities throughout the year. A lot of which I would have never got involved in otherwise.
