The Role
The placement was very enjoyable, it taught me a lot, and gave me the chance to meet some very good friends!
By giving me real responsibilities and asking for my opinion on different matters, my colleagues really made me feel valued.
Managers were always ready to help when I needed advice and guidance.
Certain periods were a lot busier than others but at quieter times there was opportunity to do smaller and less important tasks.
While some smaller responsibilities were left entirely up to me, other very important tasks were checked by managers but only after I have completed them, in order to ensure they have been done up to standard - the perfect balance!
The placement helped me develop and aquire differebt skills - my team work and communication skills were developecd further; various training sessions taught me different approaches to problem solving; I improved my Excel skills and knowledge considerably; I learned how to use various softwares and databases.
The Company
Most of the time the atmosphere in the office was very quiet and everyone was doing their own tasks without much non-work related conversations occuring.
The work placement set up was very well organised - sometimes I'd even forget I was on a palcement and felt like a permanent part of the team
I went through several training processes that all employees go through.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Working from home
I don't see a reason not to work with the company again if offered a role I am interested in. Location is not the best - too far from Central London.
The Culture
Placement students frequently organised parties or went out together. Not too easy to take part in the social scene if you don't like in Uxbridge though.
I didn't live in the area; cost of food/drinks was reasonable for the area
The placement students who frequently went out clubbing seemed happy with the Nighlife in the area.
More for the guys than girls - there were football matches organised. Sometimes we'd get offered to take part in events such as charity walks, etc.
