The Role
The placement was great. I met so many different people who come from different cultural backgrounds and had a chance to work with almost every country in the world. This was a really good experience to see the cultural differences.
I really enjoyed working with my team. All were really supportive and always willing to help. In my opinion, I was a valuable team meber as well because people often asked me for help. They could pass some additional task to me which gave them more time for other activities.
If I had a question my manager or superviser would always answer those. If I had some non-job related questions, I would also receive advise on those. I knew I could ask questions and I knew I will receive a piece of advice.
It depended on a month or even day period. Some days were more busy than others and vice versa. However, I still managed to go to the gym regulary and play football on a weekly basis. To be honest, there were some extremely busy days, but it happens everywhere.
The amount of responsibility for a placement student was much bigger than I was expecting which is very good. Because of that I have developed some valuable skills and improved the skills I had.
All the skills I have received will be usefull in my final year and in any other company I will work for. Skills like working under pressure, multitasking, prioritising and etc are required in every job you do. This placement has given me a very good feel for what a real business is.
The Company
The atmosphere was great. People telling jokes but simaltaneously working hard. People were not sitting quetly but chatting which made the atmosphere even better. We were always sharing our thoughts and ideas.
The work was set up good. At first you receive some training and then slowly start working on easier projects. However, sometimes it took long time to set up all required hardware and get registered in company system.
The company gave me all required skills for the role I was doing. It provided all kind of online courses such as QwickSolver. I could use company's online courses database for self-development.

Xerox is a great place to work, however, I would like to try something else. It also depends on what Xerox has to offer for graduates (graduate schemes, salary and etc.)
The Culture
We have organised some nights out in London. There was a student networking event happening just in the beggining of my placement.
The cost of living was a bit more higher than the UK's average because it was close to London. There were not many clubs or pubs in the area so not much happening on the weekends.
The city I lived in was very quiet so there was not much happening. However, city which was near to mine had much more clubs, pubs and etc. Student usually went there or to London for the night out.
There were some. Placement students played football every week. There was also free gym membership provided by Xerox which was really great. Gym manager organised various classes for the gym members.
