The Role
It was absolutely fantastic - the job was varied and full of responsibilities and my colleagues were also wonderful!
I really got treated with a lot of respect, and I was treated as an equal, not as a placement student.
It was great, my manager was always happy to help, both on a professional and personal level. Within the demands of the job, I was always given room to carry out my work in my own way, but I knew that if I ever needed support, all I had to do was ask and my manager would be more than happy to give me a hand and more direction.
99% of the time it was a perfect balance, but then there were some days when there was too much to do and other days that were quiet. However, this is the nature of any business and it's good to get accustomed to different demands because you won't always follow the same routine.
The responsibility within my role was immense. I managed my own proejcts and was responsible for certain key activities for the business. If they had not been part of my role, they would have to be carried out by someone else as it was absolutely essential for these activities to be carried out promptly.
I learned so much about managing my time, prioritising, being responsible and organised in my placement and these skills will all assist me in my final year and definitely beyond my studies.
The Company
Everyone in my office was always happy, smiley, full of energy and ready to share exciting new ideas and insights. Lots of people said it was the best part of the office to be in!
I always had projects to work on and activities to carry out. Among my daily responsibilities, I had a number of long term projects that I worked on at the same time, and I was always busy with one thing or another. My company has been running the placement scheme to a large number of students for many years, and they really have organised the roles to help us.
We wre treated just like any employee in the company and always encouraged to get involved with activities that we were interested in even if it wasn't necessarily in our department.

I would love to come back and work for Xerox as a graduate, especially within the developing markets.
The Culture
There were around 50 placement students on the Uxbridge site and it was a great student atmosphere, but also the social scene amongs colleagues was also fantastic.
Uxbridge was relatively cheaper than central London, but it was still quite pricey as it is located in Greater London after all.
Uxbridge wasn't exactly party central, but central London is around 45 minutes on the tube and the nightlife there is great as it's so diverse and you can go pretty much anywhere. However, getting back to Uxbridge after a night out in central can be a challenge.
The students set up a football team and if you went looking for activities outside of work, there were definitely lots to choose from.
