    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a very enjoyable internship, with excellent exposure to different areas of the business. It would have been better, however, if it had been slightly less repetitive at times.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were very friendly and gave me regular praise and advice. They showed their gratitude for the help I gave, making me feel very valued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I asked for it, I was given guidance and support. Perhaps sometimes it would have been useful to have been offered support without me having to directly ask for it.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the time I was busy enough but often because I found myself things to do. It would have been better perhaps to have had more scheduled into each day and then there would have been less time for me to fill myself.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was initially very surprised by the large amount of responsibility I was given from the start and found this a little worrying. However, I very soon appreciated and enjoyed having lots of responsibility as it made me feel a valuable member of the team and enabled me to make a difference in the company.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My degree isn't Retail-based so it is unlikely that what I learnt will impact much on my degree studies but I developed so many transferable skills (such as leadership, time-management) that will be very useful in my future career.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was very friendly towards each other and clearly got on well with one another. There was definitely a supportive atmosphere, with people feeling they could ask for help when needed.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organised but the schedule could have done with being a little more full.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was little done in terms of personal training and development, although we were given a brief session on expanding our horizons to other aspects of the company.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing, as it seems a great company to be part of.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The other interns and I got on really well and organised going out together but we were not given the opportunity to socialise with any other colleagues.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cheaper than a lot of places I think, although I lived at home during my placement so didn't need to rent a place to stay.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Pretty average I think.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I was not offered the opportunity to get involved in activities outside of work.

    1/5
