The Role
Very enjoyable, I was working in a chemical plant which is the field I want to go into after university.
Highly valued, they were most friendly and helpful.
Anytime I was unsure of what to do my supervisor would help me.
There was always plenty to do but I was not pressured into working hastily.
My particular job was not difficult to do but was actually very important to the plant as a whole. When a collegue went on holiday I was trusted to continue the work.
It gave me a fantastic idea of how chemical plants are run and the dynamic of workplaces in general. I am now better able to apply what I learn on my degree to the real world.
The Company
The radio was mostly on, it was a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere,
My workstation was already set up. I was given a key card shortly after my arrival.
There was an induction session to introduce me to the company and brief me on safety etc. I was trained by a supervisor before starting a new job in the plant.
Flexi Time
Financial Bonus
The end of my degree is a few years away but this would definitely be a company I would want to work for after the degree is finished.
The Culture
Yes, I was frequently offered opportunities to socialise outside of work by colleagues.
Both were cheap, living especially so.
A few good night clubs and pubs.
Plenty of clubs to join in the area, especially outdoor activities.
