The Role
This was my second placement in Rolls-Royce, as I already knew the company and how it worked, I have managed to start working on my project straight away. Work was challenging and very enjoyable!
I was working in a team of interns and graduates, we formed a really good team.
My managed was happy to spend 1h a week with me to review my progress.
It varied; I was busy most of the time, but there were times when I was free.
I was working on a project which was presented and well received by the business executives.
A lot of the skills developed will definitely help me in the future when I will be looking for graduate jobs.
The Company
As it was only a summer placement, I have only managed to meet a proportion of the people in my office. I have had a mix of office and shopfloor experience; they were both positive.
I knew from day one what I would be working one. As work developed, there was opportunity for me to work on different projects too.
As a summer placement, there wasn't enough time for me to attend training courses.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
There is a number of doors open to go back to the company, I now have a year to decide what is the best solution for me.
The Culture
My summer was quite busy due to travelling and volunteering work, so I didn't get much time to spend with colleagues. A number of the interns and graduates always meet up for drinks or for a night out.
Derby is very cheap (not so glamorous), but it is also very close to Nottingham.
Not much going on!
There is a number of activities where you can get involved with Rolls-Royce. A number of graduates and colleagues were regularly involved.
