The Role
I had a really good time! some days there was little work to do as the internship was outside of busy season, but that really didn't affect my overall enjoyment.
Everyone I worked with were patient and supportive towards me, as well being fun and friendly. I felt that once I had a grasp of the work that needed to be done, my collegues expressed their gratitude of the work I had completed. On the whole I felt part of the team rather than an outsider.
As I had no previous knowledge of accounting, my project supervisors were aware that work should be explained to me in a lot of detail, and did so accordingly. My people manager left a particularly lasting impression on me, as I felt I could talk to her about any issue or problem; and she was a great support at the end of the internship when it came to discussing my future with the firm.
When booked onto a client project, I generally had enough work to keep me busy. However, some days I had little or no work to be completed for a client, in which case my people manager would try and find something for me to do.
The work I completed for the client was used in the final audit file, therefore I felt that i was adding real value to the audit. Initially, all of my work was reviewed continuously during completion, however once familiar with the tasks, reviews were left to once the task was completed.
The internship provided an invalubale insight into the role of a graduate at PwC. I learned not only basic accounting skills, but how to use the technology and software used by all staff in undertaking audit work. With ragards to assiting my undergraduate studies, spending time in an office environment had aided my timekeeping skills no end.
The Company
Working with a team on client site was always fun. Some days in the office were pretty quiet, however there was an office lunch at the end of the month where I got a chance to get to know people in the other departments.
The internship was clearly very well organised. However I did have a change of people manager half way through which meant that some details about the exit proceedure were not passed on to my new people manager.
The internship scheme was obviously designed as an investment in the successful applicants. The internship began with a 3 day induction at a hotel with team building exercises and seminars which focused on personal development, and training us in the intricacies of the job.

They offered me and every other intern I've spoken to a job. The internship invests so much in you that it wouldn't be worthwhile to not give you a job!
The Culture
I was the only intern in my office, which was a bit of a downer in terms of a social scene. However, whenever I worked from Manchester the other inters were very friendly and we would go for lunch on dinner together.
I lived in my student house, which was very cheap to rent. Liverpool is not an expensive city in general.
The nightlife in Liverpool is amazing! I know this from student experience.
There was some networking events available to me, and I know that there were sports days and away days going on in the office before and after I left. The staff said they were dissappointed that none of them landed during my time with them!
