The Role
I enjoyed my work placement a lot, i was never left alone, was always busy but never driven too hard. allowance was made for me being a placement student, but i still felt valued and useful.
I felt valued as a colleague, but made no real connections with any colleague as I was working with different people every week.
I was given a little when required and at the start, but in general was left to get on with it. not much guidance was required however, so this was acceptable
work balance was exceptional, i was never kept too late in the evenings, but was almost always kept busy during the days.
I was given an area to focus on, and had responsibility for that, but was supervised. For someone of my level, I wasnt treated like a child but was given the appropriate responsibility.
It was all good experience, and i learnt a lot about accountancy and people skills. in terms of assisting my degree the effect is negligible, but in terms of future career and prospects it helped a lot.
The Company
I only spent 1 day in the office, which was OK.
I was kept busy at all times, on different jobs and this was fairly seamless.
There was little training, but I developed due to the nature of the work involved and how I was used.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
I got a job with them, so exceptional
The Culture
No i spent no time with colleagues outside of work, although there was one social event during my time there which I could not attend.
It was in newcastle, so in the north which was very cheap relative to my home in the south.
i know it is very good due to my university experience, but with KPMG i did little socialising.
there was one social event. other than that, minimal.
