The Role
It was a fantastic experience. The internship gave me a much clearer picture of the industry, valuable contacts, and important skills - and I had a lot of fun as well.
There was mutual respect among the interns, and everyone had something to contribute.
I was given a mentor to help me get familiar with the bank and answer and questions I had. She was very genuine and gave good advice.
I usually arrived between 7 to 9, depending on the activity planned for the day. Work ended at around 7 and we usually worked on our group project after that till 10.
Since it was a week-long internship, there was not much to do in the form of work. However, each group was responsible for giving a presentation at the end of the week.
The 2 days of training at the beginning gave me a good perspective of the industry, and the soft skills I picked up are still useful to me now.
The Company
The lectures were good, but 2 full days of lectures can get dull at times. The subsequent 3 days of desk rotations were very enjoyable.
The bank was well-prepared for the interns. The HR team responded very quickly to any queries , and ensured that the programme flowed smoothly.
During the rotations, everyone working at the desks were very accommodating to any questions we had despite being on the job.
Good culture, global bank, clear investment into staff.
The Culture
Yes, the interns mostly got along well and met up after work.
Living and going out in central London was not cheap.
Did not really experience it during the internship.
No, the time after work was mostly spent on preparing the presentation.
