The Role
My tasks were mainly menial ones, so I did not enjoy my placement a lot.
They didn't know my name when the week was over!
Not much guidance was given, I didn't feel supported for much of the time, as I was left to my own devices for large periods of time.
I was always given a task, but most of this was reception work.
Due to confidentiality laws, I was not allowed much responsibility.
Some basic skills like photocopying, scanning, franking, filing and shredding will assist me, and I learnt a lot from observing the GP consultations.
The Company
It was fairly dull, people generally found their work boring.
They did not know of my arrival! My supervisor went day by day, there was no clear plan of what I was supposed to be doing.
They did not invest much in terms of training or development, as I had no prior training to my work placement.
I did not like the atmosphere, nor the people who I was working with.
The Culture
Aside from lunches, fellow students would not mix.
It was very cheap, I stayed in the inner city area of Walsall, the rent was not too high, and I mostly ate out.
I don't frequent nightclubs and suchlike.
Nothing was offered outside of my working hours.
