The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, I worked on a high level project and felt my opinions were valued. The support I was given was excellent.
I was made to feel very welcome at Shropshire Council by the graduate manager, graduates and staff members. I moved for the position and they helped me settle in to working and living in Shropshire.
Great guidance including a induction which was very helpful, training through out my time and objectives. Shropshire Council provides a buddy system with a graduate, this was very helpful!!
I had periods where I was very busy but thank to flexi time when work was quieter I could have a short day and go out and see what Shropshire had to offer.
I worked on a high level project and was given a high level of responsibility.
The internship helped me develop my managerial skills and gave me an insight to skills I didn't known I had! This included having the opportunity work work on branding, project planning no budgeting.
The Company
I worked in a great office where the staff were very welcoming and friendly! The graduates and interns were also very friendly and enjoyed working with them!
Very well organised, we revived a timetable the first day which kept me busy for the first 3 weeks!
We receive training and help in different areas of the council including presentation skills, interview skills and we also attend other staff training sessions and information events.

Working from home
I am now once graduate scheme,I would recommend coming as an intern to Shropshire Council as it gives you practical high level experience with support.
The Culture
There was 13 Interns and 6 graduates, we went on nights out and for drinks and coffee a the local pub. They all helped me settle into life on Shropshire.
The rent on my house was reasonable and nights out are reasonable price.
The night life isn't that of a city HOWEVER it is a good nightlife with the other interns and graduates!!! There are 3 good clubs and some good bars too.
I've made a lot of friends through my internship at Shropshire Council and it's made settling into Shropshire a lot easier! I also live with two other interns who now work full time at Shropshire Council!
