The Role
I couldn't say it was the best job ever, as I feel international pop sensation amongst other things would be more dynamic. However, it was certainly a great job.
Initially I didn't feel particularly valued, however as the internship progressed I felt my professional contribution became valuable to our team.
There was an enjoyable training week at the start of the program. In the office the people were approachable and open, however I didn't find I needed a huge level of support.
Varied. I found when on projects I had lots to do, which was great. However, when not on projects I only had small tasks and spent almost as much time trying to find things to do as actually doing them!
Again varied. I've given this 8, as on my final project I really felt responsible for my section of the report, and I enjoyed the responsibility. Before then my work was much more heavily monitored and doctored.
The skills I learned will not help with my degree studies at all. However, I learned about the operation of a consulting practice and got a really good insight into consulting as a career. I also got a good overview of corporate life in general. I think the information and experience I built up have really enhanced my overall awareness of the professional world.
The Company
Relaxed and friendly in the office. Good and regular social evenings.
From a firm-wide perspective, very well. The initial training week was great. From a departmental perspective not so well as I went through a long period without being resourced to a project.
Again, initial training week was great.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
As stated, I got a job offer.
The Culture
The other interns were great and we made friends quickly.
I worked in London.
Standard London vibe.
Yes, especially social and pub/drinking oriented ones.
