The Role
The placement wasn't hugely stimulating due to lack of work available, but the people were friendly and supportive and I could see that the type of work was interesting
They helped me settle in and took me out to lunch a few times during the placement, very friendly, but sometimes left without work despite persisting
Unfortunately many of the staff were away on exams/ study leave, but whenever I was given a piece of work supervisors would be happy and willing to answer questions
Despite pushing for work, I was probably only working 50/ 60% of the time because of lack of jobs
Lack of work meant lack of responsibility in general, however, when I was given work I was often left to get on with it without being 'micromanaged'
The most useful thing I developed was an understanding as to what a full time job with Deloitte would constitute, but I also picked up some industry specific terminology and better proficiency with working with excel
The Company
Lots of people were away, but those who were there were friendly
A well run scheme, broadly meeting expectations of giving me a taster of the department and giving the department a taster of me!
Deloitte have supported me well through work placements
Lots of opportunity within such a large well respected firm
The Culture
Opportunities for regular drinks, sports societies, charity work once working there full time
Working in London including travel is expensive, but you are remunerated accordingly
I didn't go out clubbing during the placement, but London is well known for its nightlife!
A number of full time opportunities
