The Role
I really enjoyed my internship as it was great meeting and working with the people at KPMG.
I felt that the work I was doing was in some way helping my colleagues to lessen their workload.
I was given lots of support and guidance throughout my internship. Everyone was always very happy to answer my questions and they gave me lots of advice.
By the second week, I usually had work to do the whole day. It was on rare occasions that I did not have work to do, but each time it was only a short amount of time before a colleague had work for me to do.
I felt that throughout my internship, there were always opportunities to gain more responsibilty if you asked or showed your interest. I felt that the amount of responsibility that I had made my work both challenging and interesting.
I did develop skills that were useful for the future, especially for a career in Audit but I think more training in Excel software would have been good!
The Company
It was quite relaxed and everyone was very friendly.
Overall, I think it was well set up but if there were more socials organised for the interns then it would have been even better.
Before we started working in the office, we were away for two days to do a case study and there was also a training session on presentation skills. My colleagues were always happy to help me when I did not know how to perform a task.
Subsidised Canteen
After my internship and the partner interview, KPMG offered me a job and so future employment prospects are quite good.
The Culture
There was a good social scene with the interns; we would meet up regularly after work during the internship. There were also many socials with my colleagues, including department drinks.
Living in Central London can be quite expensive but can keep the cost of living down by spending wisely. KPMG also have subsidised lunches so that helps too.
The Nightlife in London is not bad.
KPMG have CSR days, where the staff spend a day volunteering instead of working.
