The Role
Though very fulfilling, the job was a struggle at times and I had to work very hard to keep my head above water so to speak.
My colleagues were very helpful in answering any questions that I had but we did not socialise out of work.
My manager for the first 10 months was very supportive and guided me through any problems that I encountered. I could not have wished for a better supervisor during my time there.
In the run up to the shows I was always very busy, sometimes too busy, but this was counteracted by the times after the show that there was not much work to do.
I was given a great deal of responsibility, more on each show I worked on. By the last two shows, I was given a list of responsibilities and went away to do them with little input from my manager.
The experience I gained from learning on the job has been invaluable, and the training sessions that I attended will be useful in my degree and future job.
The Company
Good atmosphere overall, motivational talks happened once a month to keep everyone motivated.
There wasn't a set structure as such, it was more like when I learnt how to use the systems I became part of the team and was given my own responsibilities. My learning was structured as all team members was, with meetings with the manager once a week. I wasn't treated any differently to the other team members which meant that I could settle in and become part of the team.
I was able to attend most training sessions that the business held so learnt a fair bit, and I was given a great deal of responsibility so was able to develop my skills from learning on the job.
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
I think that I will definitely apply back for a job when I graduate, but might like to work in a different area to see more of the business from a different angle and to try a different role.
The Culture
We would go out for team lunches and drinks after work occasionally, there was not much of a social scene amongst placement students however as the one session to meet with fellow placement students was cancelled.
As we were based near to camden, there was quite a selection of places to lunch at a reasonable price, however as we were in London socialising after work could be quite expensive.
I didn't tend to go out much in the area that I worked, as it was a long way from where I lived. However from what I've heard, it seems to be a good night out.
There was a pub quiz organised work that I went to once, and several team parties to celebrate shows successes, but nothing other than that.
