The Role
Most of the time I really enjoyed my placement at KPMG and I can't imagine a more valuable work experience I would have had during my gap year.
Most of the time, I felt valued by my colleagues. Sometimes the people I worked with were exceptionally satisfied with my work and appreciated it a lot, but sometimes I felt valued a bit less, though that might be due to my own inexperience since I wasn't able to perform the tasks so fast/efficiently etc.
I received excellent support and guidance from my manager and could approach him with any possible issue/questions I had.
When on a project, I was extremely busy, working long hours and throughout the lunch break. However, there was considerable down time when not on projects, when I had only a few small tasks and was not kept that busy.
I felt that I was given a fair amount of responsibility for a gap year.
I will definitely use the team work skills, social interaction skills, as well as technical skills like working with Microsoft Excel and research skills, as well as creating and managing databooks in the future. I feel that I have gained a lot in my gap year placement and I feel much better prepared for university and already have a significant awareness of what I expect to get out of university and what the employers are looking for.
The Company
Mostly the atmosphere was really fun and relaxed!
The internship was generally very well organised except the amounts of down time I had.
All of my colleagues/team mates were always extremely supportive and always ready to explain anything I asked, and also there were always training programmes available for me. Not only I could take advantage of many training courses, but I was especially encouraged to do so.

Company Parties/Events
I will definitely consider working with KPMG in the future.
The Culture
The social scene at KPMG was great both amongst fellow placement students and generally amongst people in the office.
The cost of living and socialising in the City is very high.
There are plenty of nice bars and clubs, and pubs around Salisbury Square that are always open on the week days.
There were countless volunteering and many other opportunities at KPMG, lots of which I took part of.
