The Role
I really enjoyed my year working at Disney, it is a fun place to work and was quite easy to settle into the role.
Everyone on the team is approachable and you are given your own set of responsibilities so you have your own role within the team.
Each placement student has their own line manager and a weekly one to one meetings were set up where any problems could be raised and could ask for advice.
Most days were fairly busy, there were times throughout the year where there was less of a work load but there was always something that needed doing.
As Creative Operations intern you are given your own daily responsibilities as well as other projects from other members of the wider team. These could be creative or research projects.
The year provided a good experience of working in a busy work place and gave me a good understanding of how a global company works to produce fashion & home products.
The Company
Everyone within the team was friendly, and atmosphere is laid back except for busy times and around important events.
Disney are use to hiring a lot of interns so the hiring process was quite smooth. The placement did not provide lots of opportunities to learn extra skills other than the basic job role.
There wasn't much training at all apart from on the systems you use daily. It is quite an admin based role.
Subsidised Canteen
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare/Dental
A lot of jobs are advertised internally and job openings do not appear too often.
The Culture
There are plenty of other placement students to meet up with and get to know. Can organise events, meals or drinks together.
London is quite expensive, however the area you live in will determine living costs and as it is a paid placement it really helps.
Hammersmith itself has a few nice pubs to have a meal or drinks in but not a lot else.
There are volunteering opportunities which the company manages as well as a few sports teams which employees within the head office organise and between interns themselves.
