The Role
It was fairly enjoyable, hard work but worthwhile
Although everyone I met was friendly, as an intern I'm not sure i was 'valued' as the work I was doing was not particularly challenging
There was plenty of support offered by supervisors, particularly at the beginning of the internship to help get you on your feet
It varied, at some points I was very busy but at others I had to ask for things to do.
Not a huge amount of responsibility, but towards the end I was expected to use my initiative to a greater extent>
Definitely some of the skills I learnt will be relevant should I decide to pursue a career in accounting, but apart from that I don't think I got anything out of the internship that I don't already get out of University life/past jobs.
The Company
It was fairly quiet but also sociable and friendly
Well organised
I was impressed with the time and investment put into the interns' experience, as it showed that they were interested in our personal development and wanted to facilitate this.
Subsidised Canteen
I have picked up some useful tips that will help me when I make an application for a full time job with this company, and had the chance to network to make useful contacts.
The Culture
There was one social which was good but apart from that nothing was organised.
I commuted from home
As above, I commuted from home so couldn't really say.
No, not at this level within the company. However talking to current employees it seems that there are plenty of opportunities once you re working full time for KPMG.
