The Role
Every day during the summer school was unpredictable and different. Challenging, but in its best sense.
We formed a good team of fellow summer school assistants, but not necessarily friendships.
My supervisor was reachable 24/7 and gave us all the advice possible. Any time in doubt, we could phone/see him and he would answer any query, however ridiculous.
Very busy, job started before 7am and did not finish until 23pm. All the time we had responsibility for a bunch of teenagers, so no easy job.
The programme of the sommer schedule was quite rigid, yet we were able to schedule 2/3 other activities with our students outside the main timetable.
I had to go through Child Protection Training and was able to teach and tutor students only a couple of years younger in the subject that both my students and I love, so certainly very important in the future employment if I become a teacher.
The Company
Reasonably funny, especially time spent on job with the students.
The whole summer school was perfectly organised, everything was thought of before the actual thing started.
We had the CRB check done, the interviews were in a form of team-work and the childcare-protection training was important and valuable too.
Subsidised Canteen
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Possibly will get the same job for the next summer, if all goes well.
The Culture
We had a pre-summer school as well as a post-summer school events together.
Everything was paid for by the employer.
We did not have a nightlife, as the job was on-site and responsibility for students for 24/7.
Quite a lot of activities, extra-curricular stuff, etc.
