    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Every day during the summer school was unpredictable and different. Challenging, but in its best sense.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • We formed a good team of fellow summer school assistants, but not necessarily friendships.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was reachable 24/7 and gave us all the advice possible. Any time in doubt, we could phone/see him and he would answer any query, however ridiculous.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy, job started before 7am and did not finish until 23pm. All the time we had responsibility for a bunch of teenagers, so no easy job.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The programme of the sommer schedule was quite rigid, yet we were able to schedule 2/3 other activities with our students outside the main timetable.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I had to go through Child Protection Training and was able to teach and tutor students only a couple of years younger in the subject that both my students and I love, so certainly very important in the future employment if I become a teacher.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Reasonably funny, especially time spent on job with the students.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The whole summer school was perfectly organised, everything was thought of before the actual thing started.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had the CRB check done, the interviews were in a form of team-work and the childcare-protection training was important and valuable too.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Possibly will get the same job for the next summer, if all goes well.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • We had a pre-summer school as well as a post-summer school events together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Everything was paid for by the employer.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • We did not have a nightlife, as the job was on-site and responsibility for students for 24/7.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Quite a lot of activities, extra-curricular stuff, etc.

    5/5
