The Role
Currently in my fourth month in distribution at TJX, the job is more than I ever expected in a year placement, real responsibility is given to us placements and graduates and we're given the opportunity to try each area in head office to give us the broadest exposure.
I've been in my team European Logistics since July, the culture in the office is really fun and friendly, different to any work environement I've been in before! my team already value my opinions whilst want to teach me all areas!
TJX are a growing company and it genuinly feels like they want you to grow with them. I receive weekly feedback meetings for development.
Never left twiddling my fingers! It sounds like a joke but a whole day in my office feels like less than a one hour lecture!
As spoken about above
There is 8 weeks of induction in the summer to learn the ins and outs of the business.. I study business with logistics at university and the placement is putting loads of the theory into action, not just logistically speaking but all business areas. IT training was offered to those of us who hadn't used it since GCSE too! Workshops are offered throughout the year for all types of skills such as leadership. The teams are willing to help you even if your not in their team...
The Company
Very different culture! Smart suits and quite offices aren't something you'd see in distribution, there's Lots of communication and even a bit of banter! With us all working towards the same goal though every team is approachable too if you need any help
Our distribution scheme was the first one TJX have done, things in the induction changed but it never even affected us personally! They really put thought into our induction and year :)
As I've said before really... If you need something they're there to make it happen.

Hopefully they want me back after I finish university!
The Culture
All the placements are put into Facebook groups so you can find housing together for the year which is great socially as we're basically in another student house at the moment! Lots of us go to the pub on Fridays from the office and it's really great!
Watford isn't cheap, roughly £450-500 rent per person per month but bearing in mind we're a 20 minute train from central london!
Night life's ok in Watford but definitely suggest spending a bit more and going to London! But after a day in work on a friday and pub after work a night in Watford later isn't too bad!
There's Lots of departmental things weekly from curry clubs to charity work events like football matches and pub quizzes!
